
BELT ORDER AND MEANINGS

WHITE - Signifies innocence, as that of the beginning student who has no previous knowledge of Tae Kwon Do.
YELLOW - Signifies Earth, from which a plant sprouts and takes root as Tae Kwon Do foundation is being laid.
​
BLUE - Signifies the heaven towards which the plant matures into a towering tree as training in Tae Kwon Do progresses.
​
RED - Signifies danger, cautioning the student to exercise control, and warning the opponent to stay away.
BLACK - Opposite to white, therefore, signifying the maturity and proficiency in Tae Kwon Do. Also indicates the wearer's imperviousness to
darkness and fear.

HOW TO TIE THE BELT
​
Step 1: Find the center of the belt by folding it in half, using both hands place the center just above the navel.
​
Step 2: Wrap both ends of the belt once around the waist.
​
Step 3: Make sure that the belt is not twisted at the back.
​
Step 4: Place the ends of the belt left over right across the front of the abdomen.
​
Step 5. Run the left end of the belt under the entire wrap and hold it to the top.
​
Step 6: Pull the belt tight.
​
Step 7: Cross the right end of the belt over the left to form an X.
​
Step 8: Run the left of the belt inside to form a knot.
​
Step 9: Tighten the belt. The result should be a square knot.
​
Step 10: Let the ends fall free. The ends of the belt should be even.
